The GO Map team is growing and seeking volunteers to fill a variety of roles. Content Developer

Seeking an individual with a passion for global health to research and write content for The GO Map. Responsibilities include:

  • Creating posts about featured projects and organizations on a regular basis
  • Gathering interesting data and facts on global cancer burden for display on The GO Map
  • Keeping up-to-speed on global cancer news and sharing the information on The GO Map's country or cancer-type pages
  • Defining the content schedule and creating a plan for how the content should be created and shared in the future
  • Some facilitation and monitoring of discussions with users on The GO Map may be required

This volunteer role requires 3-4 hours per week. If mutually agreeable, this role can last as long as the candidate is interested and available.

Dates: Flexible; September – May 2017, with potential to continue

Marketing Lead

Seeking an individual with a background in marketing and/or communications to help promote The GO Map. Responsibilities include:

  • Generate posts and graphics to share on Facebook and Twitter
  • Develop a marketing strategy for how to publish The GO Map to the world and generate additional users
  • Create marketing material as applicable to achieve above strategy

This volunteer role requires 5-6 hours per week as the marketing planning ramps up, and 1-2 hours per week once the plan is executed. If mutually agreeable, this role can last until the candidate completes the marketing strategy with applicable materials, or longer if the candidate is interested and available.

Data Specialist

Seeking an individual with experience using Excel and handling large sets of data. Responsibilities include:

  • Help clean, import, and verify incoming project submissions and data upload alongside GO's Technical/Data Lead
  • Help clean and import projects from NIH’s World RePort Dataset via Excel Batch upload for the GO Map
  • Verify and review project pages after uploading them for accuracy with locations, listed collaborators, institution locations, project titles, summaries, project types, cancer types, specialties, and others

This volunteer role requires 5-10 hours per week. If mutually agreeable, this role can last as long as the candidate is interested and available.
