Michele Galen, a lawyer, journalist, and healthcare executive, currently serves as an independent board member and strategic advisor to biotechs, start-ups, and nonprofits focusing on global health.

In addition to Global Oncology (GO), Michele serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Cardax, Inc. and a member of the Board of Advisors of MK&A, a private healthcare constituency consulting firm.

Previously, Michele served as the Chief Communications & Public Affairs Officer for Shire plc.  Michele earlier spent 14 years at Novartis AG in global leadership roles, including serving as Chief Communications Officer reporting to the CEO and residing in Basel, Switzerland.  She also led diverse externally-facing global functions and served as a member of management for Novartis Global Oncology and for the Novartis Pharmaceuticals Division.

Michele worked as Managing Director for Burson-Marsteller, where she co-founded the Organizational Effectiveness Practice; Legal Affairs and Social Issues Editor for Business Week; and as an associate for Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.

Michele has a BA from George Washington University, JD from New York University School of Law, and MS in Journalism from Columbia University, where she also received a certification in executive coaching.  She has previously served on the boards of the Global Health Council and nonprofit StupidCancer.
