Ruth Allen is a humanitarian with a passion for strategic organizational change. As Founding Principle of ViewFinder International she works with United Nations agencies and international non-profits to ensure civil society organizations, government and private sector groups are equipped to partner on complex challenges, from planning for climate change adaptation to ensuring equitable access to health care. While Director of Governance and Partnerships at Mercy Corps her teams designed and supported large-scale, multi-disciplinary assistance programs in every global region, conducted action research for the US State Department and other policy bodies, and participated in global processes such as framing the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Her current role with Mercy Corps as Senior Advisor focuses on strategic planning in sensitive environments. Ruth guest lectures often and is a Department Instructor at Clark University’s International Development, Community and Environment program, where she earned her master’s degree. She has lived in Kenya, where she was a Rotary Foundation Scholar at the University of Nairobi and researcher at Nobel Laureate Wangari Maathai’s Greenbelt Movement, and in South Africa as an international observer for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Ruth and her husband Parke Rhoads live in the Boston area with their two children.
